Protecting our Koala Population - The KoalaSAFE research project

Supporting the Koala Safe project will enable extensive research on the threats facing south-east Queensland koala populations. It is a community engagement project in which members of the public will be contributing valuable research data and conservation information to monitor and save koalas. Analysis of the data will allow the identification of temporal and spatial trends of risks for disease, injuries and mortality and quantification of habitat use by koalas. This KoalaSAFE will also directly improve koala survival by allowing a faster response to animals under threat and enabling prompt treatment and improved prognosis of diseased or injured animals.
