Emeritus Professor Fred D’Agostino
Professor of Humanities
The University of Queensland
Emeritus Professor Fred D'Agostino is an internationally recognised philosopher and social scientist who is committed to helping students through his personal philanthropic donations.
Emeritus Professor D'Agostino is passionate about empowering students at UQ to pursue education, particularly those from challenging circumstances, through access to scholarships.
His passion for giving back stems from the support he received as a young man, without which he would not have been able to attend university and rise to his current position as an acclaimed expert on the idea of public reason.
His work has also received national recognition through his election as Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
Prior to chairing the Academic Board, Emeritus Professor D’Agostino was the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and has been a member of the UQ Senate from 2010 - 2013 and 2015 - 2017.
